August 2017 Reading List

So here it is – another month of trying to tackle (and overcome) my forever growing To Be Read pile. For every book I finish, it seems like a new one just … appears (I swear, I’ve barely bought any new books this summer!).

So, what will I be reading this month?

Well, after a crazily busy July, I have a lot of catching up to do; I am setting some more reasonable reading goals for myself, and hoping that the few weeks that I do have off in August can be used for some quality reading time! That being said, much of this list may look similar to my recent TBR’s, but there’s some new books on here as well!

  1. Obsidian and Stars by Julie Eshbaugh (June 13, 2017)
  2. Thief’s Cunning by Sarah Ahiers (June 13, 2017)
  3. Spellslinger by Sebastien de Castell (May 4th, 2017)
  4. Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody (July 25th, 2017)
  5. Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes (December 11th, 2012)
  6. Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller (August 29th, 2017)
  7. Wicked Liked A Wildfire by Lana Popovic (August 15, 2017)

So, what will you be reading this month? Let me know in the comments!

July 2017 To Be Read List

Let me start this off by first saying – Happy 150th Birthday Canada! Today, many Canadian bookworms, such as myself, are out and about celebrating the “birth” of our home nation. So what are we celebrating up here in the Great White North, you ask? The year 2017 marks 150 years since Confederation – what many consider to be the official creation of the Dominion of Canada. And while we celebrate this milestone, it is also important to remember that for many Indigenous people (and non-Indigenous people, too), Canada exists on stolen land. While multiple First Nations have treaty agreements with Canada, others do not; there are unceded territories, and broken treaties too. It’s your birthday, Canada, so make a wish. And make it count!

So, what will I be reading this month?

I am especially behind when it comes to reading books I received for my birthday! That being said, much of this list may look similar to my June TBR, but there’s some new books on here as well!

But who could sleep with all these awesome new and upcoming releases? (Plus some older releases I’ve finally added to my TBR!) I’m also thinking that I may just have to camp out at the book store on June 13, because wow! – so many books coming out on one day!

Alanna’s May Reading List

You all know how this list starts – with one of the most anticipated Young Adult Fantasy releases of the year – A Court of Wings and Ruin by none other than the Queen of YA Fantasy herself, Sarah J Maas. I’ve got plenty of other books to read though, and with the school term (finally) done, I’ve got plenty of time to read them!

This list includes some new releases, some books that have been on my previous TBR’s (but obviously haven’t had the time to read), The YA Readers Alliance Books of the Month, and my entire book haul from the Book Outlet!

Speaking of the YA Readers Alliance, our Main Read for the month of May will be The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and the Optional Read for the month of May will be A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas! You can find more information about our monthly reads here.

March To Be Read List

March came in roaring like a lion last night (quite literally – the booming thunder and flashing lightning kept me up quite late!). But we all know what the beginning of a new month means- a new TBR list!

I managed to chip away at a significant amount of my TBR List, but it’s still quite large. That being said, my goal this month is to get my TBR pile down to only 5 books.

The following are books I already own, but which are currently (sadly) sitting unread on my shelf (or in my Kindle library):

  8. Trial by Fire by Rachel Angelini
  9. The Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova
  10. Island of Exiles (ARC) by Erica Cameron

In addition, I am very excited to read some new, upcoming releases (although, in order to reach my goal of getting my TBR list down to 5 books (and maybe save a bit of money too), I’ve really limited the new releases I’ll be reading this month!

  1. The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon (March 7th)
  2. Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton (March 14th)
  3. Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves (March 28th)*
  4. The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco (you can find my review of The Bone Witch (ARC) here!) (March 7th)
  5. Hunted by Meagan Spooner (March 14th)
  6. A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi (March 28th)*

*Due to the late release dates of these books, I probably won’t get to reading them until April, but one can always hope, right?

The Epic Reads Team has also put together a pretty comprehensive list of books, from multiple genres, that are set to release this month – you can check it out here!

Most Anticipated Reads of February 2017

I know, I know, this is a couple days late (today being February 2nd, and all that), but better late than never, right?

I’ve got a huge stack of books at home to read (I blame Christmas and the Book Outlet for this particular problem), so I’ve split this month’s anticipated reads into two lists: older releases (mostly from 2016, some from earlier) I’ve yet to read and recently released books I can’t wait to read this month! (Disclaimer: I don’t actually expect to be able to read ALL these books this month – but I’ll certainly give it my best shot!)

Seriously though, my To Be Read List is out of control.
